Kathleen Dolan
Resume
My name is Kate. I gained my Nursing Registration at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in the early 1980s. As a junior RN ,I worked in the orthopaedic ward- lots of patients in traction! After overseas travel, I worked at Royal North Shore Hospital in the medical oncology ward. I learnt about administration of chemotherapy to both inpatients as well as outpatients. I also learnt a lot about good palliative care.
For something totally different, I studied for my qualification in Midwifery at Royal North Shore Hospital. I then returned to Oncology nursing at St Vincent’s Hospital, working in the surgical oncology ward and working in the outpatients chemotherapy unit.
During child rearing years, I worked at Delmar Private Hospital, a small surgical/rehab hospital in Dee Why. I then spent 7 years working in Aged Care. During this time, I became interested in becoming a trainer( thanks Jo Neophyton!!) and I started working at Northern Beaches & Mosman College training Assistants in Nursing. I love this job as I really enjoy teaching them new skills and experiences. I am a motivated nurse and I am excited to mentor them at work placement and have watched some of them gain employment as Assistants in Nursing.
I now work in a private rehabilitation hospital and also as a trainer. I enjoy this interesting work balance and bringing my real life industry experience and knowledge to my students.
