Skilling for Recovery / JobTrainer – Fee free training in Childcare and Ageing/Disability Support

What is Skilling for Recovery?

Skilling for Recovery is the NSW initiative for the delivery of JobTrainer funding in NSW. NSW has committed nearly $160 million to the federal JobTrainer program in a bid to help people to reskill for future employment in a range of sectors. The program is designed to help job seekers retrain or up-skill and support school leavers entering the workforce for the first time. It will provide a combination of short and long courses for job seekers and young people, including school leavers at no cost. The funding has recently been extended to run for an additional year until December 2022.

Eligibility is being extended for the following priority industries:

• aged care
• childcare
• disability care, and
• digital skills.

Employed people (existing workers in any industry) will be able to access fee-free training in specific full and part qualifications in each of the four industries listed above. NBMC offers courses in aged care; childcare and disability care. See below for details.

Eligibility

To be eligible for Skilling for Recovery places in the above industries you must be:

• An Australian Citizen, New Zealand Citizen, permanent resident or humanitarian visa holder; and
• Aged 15 years or older; and
• Not at school (excluding home schooled students); and
• Living or working in NSW.

Current Childcare and Ageing/Disability Courses available at NBMC under Skilling for Recovery – fee free

NBMC is pleased to offer the following qualifications:

• Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing & Home & Community) CHC33015
• Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) CHC33015
• Certificate IV in Ageing Support CHC43015 (for existing workers)
• Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care CHC30121
• Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care CHC50121 – please note completion of Certificate III in Early Childhood Education & Care is a pre-requisite to enrolment in this course.

Note: the number of places offered is subject to funding availability. Enrolments must occur prior to 31 December 2022.
