Mindfulness Meditation

Course Outline

This program is an invitation to cultivate an increased awareness of your thinking, sensations and emotions. It’s an invitation to live mindfully, experiencing life in all its wonder and challenge, without running, fighting or hiding. Through practicing the material, you can enhance your innate human capacity for attention, awareness and wise action. You can find support to respond to your inner world and your environment with conscious choice, and to cultivate thinking and behaviours to sustain mental and physical health.

The structure of this mindfulness program is based on that developed, in 1979 by Jon Kabat-Zinn, at the Massachusetts Medical Centre. It was developed to support increased mental and physical wellness of people suffering from stress, pain and illness and the resultant anxiety and depression. Research outcomes substantiate its efficacy. It continues to be offered at Massachusetts Medical Centre, and many other places around the world.
The Program is structured around 8 weekly group sessions of 2.5 hours each and home practice. A full day of mindfulness practice is included, usually after week 5.
Learning occurs over a series of 8 x 2.5-hour sessions and one full day of mindfulness.
Participants are encouraged to intentionally and actively commit to the learning experience by:

 Attending all weekly sessions;
 Engaging in Home practice during each week;
