HLTWHS001 Participate in a Workplace Health and Safety - Understand the basics of creating a safe and healthy environment. This unit helps you appreciate the importance of safety in any workplace setting, which is a crucial aspect of working with children.

CHCECE037 Support Children to Connect with the Natural Environment - Discover how engaging children with nature can enhance their development. Learn about the benefits of outdoor activities and how they contribute to a child’s learning experience.

Cluster – Working in Early Childhood

• CHCECE055 Meet Legal and Ethical Obligations in Children’s Education and Care – Gain insight into the legal and ethical frameworks that guide the profession. This knowledge is vital for understanding the responsibilities and standards required in the field.

• CHCECE056 Work Effectively in Children’s Education and Care – Explore effective communication and teamwork skills. This unit helps you understand how collaboration enhances the quality of care and education provided to children.

• CHCPRT001 Identify and Respond to Children and Young People at Risk – Learn how to identify and respond to situations where children might need extra support. This crucial skill ensures you’re prepared to handle sensitive situations with care and professionalism.

HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting - Equip yourself with essential first aid skills tailored for working with children. This unit prepares you to manage emergencies confidently and effectively.

What you need to know about this course

• The course is delivered using a blended learning model which includes classroom sessions and weekly flexible directed self-study hours.
• Students will need to allow some additional hours between sessions for directed self-study and/or the completion of learning and assessment tasks.
• The course is delivered by our qualified and industry experienced trainer/assessor.
• Three units of competency are delivered during this course (see above).

Course Entry Requirements

• Basic computer skills. If you require basic computer training, please ask us about our Essential Computer Skills course.

Are there Assessments?

• Competency based assessment of each unit of competency in the course will be conducted through a mix of assessment methods which may include short answer questions, case studies and theory tasks.
• You will receive clear assessment instructions and an opportunity will be provided for resubmission of assessments if required.
• Please note: Reliable internet and a computer is essential to access course resources and completion of assessment work.

Pathway to Further Training

These units may be included in a range of qualifications from the Community Services Training Package. If enrolling in one of those qualifications in the future, you will receive credit transfers for the units successfully completed in this course.

This course is fully funded for many Australian citizens; permanent residents; New Zealand citizens and Humanitarian Visa Holders under the NSW Government’s Adult & Community Education funding. Unique Student Identifier (USI) From 1 January 2015 it is a requirement of the Federal Government that all students undertaking nationally recognised training will need to obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI). This involves an easy online application. See USI Fact Sheet for information on how to apply for a USI go to the Unique Student Identifier (USI) Website for additional information.

Please ensure when completing your enrolment information, that the details relating to your name are identical to those on the identification evidence (eg passport or driver’s licence) used when creating your USI, eg no abbreviations or nicknames should be used. Once created, it is important that you keep a record of your USI and access to your accredited training records in a safe place.
