Ballet for the Over 50's
Course Outline:
Sorry, No Concessions
No prior dance experience required, all skill levels are welcome.
Incorporating ballet into a fitness routine for individuals over 50 can provide a graceful and enjoyable way to stay active, leading to improved overall health and quality of life. Whilst providing a great workout this is not a class designed for those looking for a more strenuous workout and will not include the more challenging steps of ballet.
Classes are designed to bring you all the joy and beauty of ballet whilst taking into consideration the special needs of a mature body. Engaging in ballet can improve balance, flexibility, and strength, promoting better posture and reducing the risk of falls. It enhances cardiovascular health, aiding in weight management and reducing the likelihood of chronic conditions. Ballet also stimulates cognitive function and memory recall, enhancing mental acuity. Additionally, it promotes social interaction
and fosters a sense of community, combating feelings of isolation.
Session 1: Introduction to basic ballet exercises and technique. This will include barre work, and center work
Session 2-Session 9: Building on the knowledge from previous weeks. "We will do the same exercises each week but build on the length of the exercise and add steps to increase the length of the exercises. We will continue to build on each week"
Session 10: "By the end of the 10 weeks, we will have built on a repertiore of steps and enchainments to be able to feel that we can dance the work without too much prompting from your teacher"
